What does isolating your bed mean?
Applying bed bug proof mattress and box spring covers.
Having the bed professionally treated and inspected to ensure there are no bed bugs remaining on the bed.
Washing and drying on extended high heat all bedding and
Moving the bed 6 inches from the wall and any furniture.
Do not allow any blankets to touch the ground or wall.
Placing the bed legs in Climb-Up monitors to prevent bed bugs from getting up the bed legs but not allowing them to climb back out so you can monitor activity without reinfesting your bed. The monitors have talc in them which prevents the bugs from climbing out.
To avoid reinfesting your bed you must be meticulous about getting into bed freshly showered/bathed including hair, every time, and clean your feet thoroughly before letting them touch the bed.
If you are going to wear pajamas to bed they must be freshly laundered and come from a clean sealed bag.
Even if you still have bed bugs after one or two treatments, isolating your bed means you can sleep at night. Your bed can go from being a dangerous, scary place, to the safest place in your house.
It is important to note that isolating your bed means you will have very hungry bed bugs in your house. They will seek you out in other places when you are at rest.
Helpful Information
Bed bugs will bite you regardless of what you rub on your body. Neem, lavender, it doesn't matter what, they will still bite you. They are primitive beasts and want to eat, and you have the blood they want. Fragrance will not deter them.
They prefer to bite in open areas (arms, eyelids, neck) but will bite under clothes as well. They are instinctive, they are not strategists.
Do not saturate your clothes or skin in alcohol. The fumes are harmful, it will dry out your skin and evaporate and you will still get bit.
Bed bugs will bite in the day or night if they are hungry, and they are always hungry.
